Plane Strain Composite Cylinder Model
A generalized plane deformation analysis for predicting the thermoelastic response of
post- and insitu- consolidated filament wound cylinders
Assumptions
- Each layer of the laminate is assumed to be both quasi homogeneous and orthotropic.
- The cylinder is axisymmetric and infinite.
- The laminate can only be loaded with internal pressure, external pressure, axial load, torsion, thermal load, winding tension or combinations thereof. No concentrated or non symmetric load can be applied.
Model Inputs
- Laminate Definition (via laminate element)
- Ply Material (via SMART Tag material, isotropic or orthotropic)
- Ply thickness (unit consistency with load required)
- Ply orientation (degrees)
- Delta temperature or moisture if included in analysis
- Laminate loading,
- Internal Pressure, External Pressure (with unit consistency)
- Axial loading
- Torsion
- Thermal loading on a per ply basis
- Winding tension on a per unit width of tape or tow basis
Model Outputs
- Ply level global and principle stresses, strains and displacements
- Results for all loading types separately or combined
